IVE - 'After Like' Review

Hello! It's me again! I promised myself to update my blog everyday, but I guess I didn't keep it T_T

Today, I will be talking about why IVE released yet another iconic hit called (drumroll please!).....

~~~ AFTER LIKE! ~~~

Okay. Before I start my song review, here's some info about IVE: 

About IVE

IVE (아이브) is a six-member girl group under Starship Entertainment, the same company that managed Sistar and Boyfriend. The group consists of former IZ*ONE members Yujin and Wonyoung, Gaeul, Rei, Liz, and Leesoo. 

They debuted on December 1, 2021, with the digital single Eleven. Then, on April 5, 2022, the group released Love Dive.

So, About That Sample...

It appears that "After Like" sampled Gloria Gaynor's 1978 hit song, "I Will Survive". 

This was surprisingly not the first time I have heard of this song being used as a sample. I heard it in a few songs, such as "Floorfilla Anthem #1" and "Teleromeo" from K3. 

What I Think of The Song

It's pretty good so far! My only concern is that for the chorus portion, the instrumental sounds a lot better in F-minor (yes, I take music courses), making it easier to transition to the "I Will Survive" sample. Also, the rap would have sounded better if it were in the first half of the song.

So my rating is 4/5: It's good, but there are a few parts whereas the song could have been greater. 

The Outfits

The performance outfits were well done. The music video outfits were a little bit debatable. For example, if this was a disco concept-based MV, shouldn't the girls wear outfits that fit into that concept a bit more? Or maybe IVE's fashion designers were probably gearing towards outfits that resemble T-ARA's "Lovey Dovey".

BLACKPINK - 'PINK VENOM' Review

Hello! It's me again, and I finally came up with something to write about! Yayyy~~ \ ^_^ / 

Yesterday night, I streamed BLACKPINK's new single "PINK VENOM", and I absolutely LOVED ITTTTTTTT <3

I will be doing my best to go further in-depth with the music video, the members' outfits, and their singing and dancing skills. It's not guaranteed that I will succesfully explain EVERYTHING in the music video, but it'll be fun writing about it XDD

Singing, Rapping, and Dancing

The dances were pretty simple, but Rose and Jisoo sang REALLY well! :D 

Also, Lisa and Jennie KILLED it with their raps. It was finally refreshing to hear Jennie rap once again after the songwriters didn't live up to Jennie's role in BLACKPINK (she is the main rapper, but they made her sing more than rap for some reason). And, of course, Lisa is one of my favorite rappers (next to T.O.P, Jay Park, Soyeon and Tymee).

Music Video (Sets)

They were pretty much what I expected, and I'm not saying it in a bad way. The sets kind of reminded me of CLC's "Helicopter" and Rihanna's "Where Have You Been". 

The Outfits

Props to the clothing designers who created BLACKPINK's comeback outfits btw...they are sooooooo beautiful~~~~ ^_^

First blog update!

Hello my beautifully wicked humans! It is I, Robin! YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE! MUHAHAHAHAHA! 

Ok, ok, enough funny business for now... let's get things started here, shall we?

First things first, I'm a geek: a hardcore anime and Star Wars geek. I am REALLY in love with a lot of things. 

For example, I have been an avid K-pop listener for almost a decade. I stan a lot of old 2nd-gen and 3rd-gen groups such as Brown Eyed Girls and SHINee (God rest Jonghyun's soul)...

I am a fan of lots of weird and kind of random things that pop up in my brain once in a while: Emily the Strange, the Star Wars universe, gaming, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter (actually, ANIME in general), food, Lenore, and gyaru culture.

I'm also trying to at least advance to writing in Korean and Thai because I'm learning how to by myself. Wish me luck, okay?

I will NOT reveal a lot about my personal information except that I am a New Years baby and I'm from the United States. 

Also, I'm a minor, so don't even TRY hitting on me.
